A UAE-based rowing team is gearing up for the ultimate test of endurance as they prepare to conquer the Arctic Ocean. Before embarking on their 1,500km journey, the Arabian Ocean Rowing team underwent rigorous training at Ski Dubai to acclimatize to the extreme cold conditions they will face.
The team, consisting of Toby Gregory, Orlagh Dempsey, and Andrew Savill, will row unsupported in an eight-meter boat, the Ocean Guardian, from Tromso, Norway to Longyearbyen, Svalbard. Their mission is not only to complete this unprecedented feat but also to raise awareness about plastic pollution as part of their partnership with the UN Environment Programme’s Clean Seas initiative.
Orlagh Dempsey is set to make history as the first woman to row the Arctic Ocean, while the trio will become the first three-person team to achieve this extraordinary challenge.
Toby Gregory expressed gratitude for the support received and highlighted the importance of the Ski Dubai training session in preparing for the harsh Arctic conditions. The team aims to inspire others through their daring expedition and create a positive impact on future generations.
