The initiative, dubbed ‘Iftar on Wheels,’ will offer a mix of grocery supplies and freshly prepared meals, along with the necessary logistics for safe and prompt delivery to underprivileged families across the UAE. Over the past four years, Amazon has played a pivotal role in providing millions of meals to underserved communities in the region.
‘Iftar on Wheels’ 2024 marks the beginning of a company-wide volunteering effort aimed at supporting the community throughout the year. Amazon plans to create over 1,200 volunteering opportunities in 2024, enabling employees to dedicate thousands of hours to assist vulnerable communities across the UAE. This year, the ‘Iftar on Wheels’ program expects to mobilize the largest number of volunteers yet, who will engage in packing and distributing food items.
Manal Bin Yaroof, Executive Director of the UAE Food Bank, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the shared goal of promoting social responsibility and volunteerism. Through sustainable collaborations like the one with Amazon, the UAE Food Bank aims to raise awareness and reduce food waste while delivering meals to as many underprivileged individuals as possible during Ramadan.
